Faqs and Tips
What is so special about Dominican hair products?
These products were developed for the special needs of Dominican women and their different hair textures.
A lot of women with textured hair, Caribbean, African American, or West Indians, anyone whose hair has African roots, is coarse,
very curly, or unruly. it doesn't matter if you have blown, chemically or direct heat straightened hair.
Women with hair that has been damaged by over processing hot combs, harsh chemicals, exposure to the sun, or excessive bleaching
or coloration, and is dry and brittle. If it won't grow or might even be falling out
The basic Dominican wash and set
First you have a shampoo from the shampooer or from one of the stylists themselves. Then you have a wonderful
scalp massage to stimulate the roots. Then comes the rinse, conditioner, or treatment that is right for your hair. If needed you
then have 15 minutes hot towel or dryer before we put in the hair curlers (rolos). Big ones if you have long hair, small ones if
you have short hair or want more curls or waves. You then sit under the BIG fast dryer for 25 minutes or small dryer for 45 minutes.
While your hair is drying you can sleep, eat, or read.
When you come out of the dryer we take out the rollers and divide your hair into sections. Then we brush and sometimes we pull and
blow dry for 5 minutes using a big round brush or a brush specific to your type and or length of hair. After which we style to your
desire, whether you want it falling in or outwards, and thats it.
Facts
Not washing your hair to let it grow is an urban legend! The key to hair growth is cleanliness of the scalp.
When your scalp is dirty, the dirt clogs the pores, which in turn stunts the growth. When your hair is dirty it attracts dirt particles.
If your hair is of longer length the particles and excess oils accumulated from sweating can cause your skin to break out. A good
regimen to follow is to shampoo and condition once a week using products with friendly natural ingredients according to your hair type.
“Thats where we can help”! You will leave Chisam hair feeling beautiful and confident, knowing your hair will continue to become
healthier, fuller, and more manageable after every visit.
